The SZTV Media crew were lucky enough to get to test drive the brand new Luxury Polaris “Slingshot” out on the open road through the Santa Monica Mountains, CA yesterday.  Kicking off from a pit stop base in Santa Monica, our camera crew, took the Slingshot out on a two-hour 77 mile open road run through the  Santa Monica Mountains and back again. A surprisingly gloomy overcast day in Santa Monica we all gathered for a light lunch and demo. Then helmet up,  good to go, the team got ready to try out the stylish looking tri-cycle or  “puppy” as she is referred to by the Polaris experts.

Polaris  has just celebrated 60 years in the business by introducing the Slingshot  - an adult tricycle with unique features to set it apart from its competitors.  A lightweight machine at less than 1,700 pounds the Slingshot is a powerful beast with its 173 horsepower, 2.4-liter dual-overhead cam Ecotech engine and a five-speed manual transmission. Underneath the striking low-profile design sits a high strength steel space frame, lightweight aluminum swing-arm, and carbon fiber-reinforced drive belt. Whether you are the rider or passenger, the side-by-side open-air cockpit allows both parties to enjoy the ride at the same time at dual level.  First is the exhilaration that you can see, hear, and feel while riding in a Slingshot.  Second is the exhilaration you feel when people turn their heads to stare at Slingshot’s unique and exotic styling. By now a small crowd was gathering taking pictures as they revved up to go.

You really have to test drive this clever tri-cyle by Polaris!  Said Frankie XO, 34 years  – SZTV Media Photographer & Artist , from Dallas, Texas  “ You literally feel the action from the moment you disengage the clutch, and Push to Start! Yes, it’s a stick shift. Today really gave me an energizing burst of torque and the Slingshot’s beefy tires stuck to the road with the tightest grip ever. Just 5 inches off the ground, the air flows through the car whispering intrigue.

Photographer’s Assistant Gal Ben     Ari, 24 years,   from Tel Aviv, Israel saidI didn’t  quite know     what to expect when they asked me to come along for the ride. Without a motorcycle license, I was going to have to rely on the safe driving of my co-pilot, and it looked like rain! A little apprehensive I turned the corner and there she was. The Slingshot! At first I thought I was in a Transformers movie and at any   moment this  3-wheel futuristic looking “vehicle” would morph into a robot and kill us all! But I soon find out that Riding on a Slingshot is just plain fun! Taking curves at 60 mph and only 5” off the ground, she stays super stable  in her lane - the 1 back wheel covered the 2 fast hungry strong front 2 wheels so it's very hard to lose the grip when it gets to accelerate. It’s very strong and lightweight and flys along like a silent bullet. The seats are super comfortable and you have this little handle you can hold on to for when it gets too wild!

Driving through the Santa Monica mountains is the perfect place for the Slingshot as she takes in the curves so gently, and with the 360 degrees view of the open road ahead it’s just an amazing feeling of exhilaration. To top it all off the Slingshot’s waterproof cockpit style interior means it’s good to go if it starts to rain. If you look at the whole thing overall I’d say it’s somewhere between a badass Ducati combined with a Corvette and just like they said a "puppy" it gets everyone's attention! Test driving the Slingshot just draws attention from everyone, especially the girls, and you’re an instant Star!  If you are ready for an exhilarating “burn the road, get lot’s of attention, let off some steam” ride then it’s the perfect new toy for weekend warriors to add to their arsenal.  Ride over, exhilarated and starving we head back to our Pit Stop and enjoy a steak meal at BOA which adds to our maschismo. Thank you Polaris for this great day out, and for making such a wonderful new fun toy for us to enjoy!
